"Who Made You?™" is an original series, created for broadcast, broadband and mobile by Gary Ravet, that asks some of the biggest stars in sports to share with us who in their past most helped make them the person that they are today.
When asked about their past, virtually every successful athlete shares two common traits:
- The did not make it on their own; and
- They all know someone who had the talents, skills, and physical attributes that could have made them a star but never achieved greatness because they did not have the support that they needed to achieve their goals.
Whether it was their mother, uncle, big brother, coach, friend, or priest, this series is about the people who helped teach each of them the life lessons that led to their success.
Today's sport stars are asked "Who Made You Who You Are Today?" and they respond by sharing intimate stories that reveal that part of their greatness that the public cannot see- the part on the inside. The audience will be familiar with their player status and the plays and games that brought them here. This show opens the audience's eyes to that special unknown element of each of these stars that they have, until now, only keep inside their minds and in their hearts.
These are not stories about who taught them how to shoot, throw, hit, or play defense. More importantly, these are stories about the life lessons that they had to learn along the way that taught them how to be a winner, how to persevere, how to make the most out of what they've been given, how to be a team player, how to stay out of trouble, or how to pull themselves up when they get knocked down. These are inspiring and uplifting stories about perseverance, overcoming obstacles, and striving for (and achieving) one's dreams.
Every year, thousands of young men and women with great athletic skills reach college and minor league level sports across the country. Many times more young men and women- with equal (or sometimes even greater) skills- never even get that far. Yet, only a handful of these thousands of athletes, with God-given physical abilities and basketball skills honed through countless hours of playing, make it into the elite ranks professional athletics. "Who Made You?™" will explore the question of what is inside those few players that has driven them to achieve the level of success they have attained. What has caused them to rise above the rest? And, who is the person who helped them get there? "Who Made You?™" will uncover those stories and bring them to the fans that respect and admire these athletes but never really knew much about them.
